The Hold Button, A Lesson In Conference Call Etiquette

A few weeks ago, the moderator made two requests to conference call participants, to mute the line when not speaking and not place the line on hold if they needed to answer an incoming call. Of course, some fool presses the hold button and hold music disrupts the conference call of over 100 participants. Well, it happened again today and there were about 200 people on the call. A few people on the phone thought it was the same person because it was the same hold music. Don’t be that guy. The operator eventually identified the source and disconnected the caller. If you have to pick up another call while on the conference line, hang up first, then answer the call.
